My Reading Plan for the Year
For quite a while, reading stopped being something I did for fun.
Years of working through academic articles, medical guides, lecture notes, and journals turned reading into a task—useful, but not enjoyable. It became something required, not something I looked forward to. Gradually, I lost the pleasure of getting lost in a book.
But over the last year, I’ve slowly rekindled my love for reading—not out of any obligation but simply because books are wonderful. They offer adventure, laughter, solace, fear, and sometimes a whole new way to see things.
So far this year, I’ve finished over [insert number] books, including those I read before I officially started this blog. That doesn’t compare to some of the UK BookTubers I follow, who somehow manage ten or twenty books each month, but I see that as inspiration rather than pressure. In practice, I couldn’t keep up with that pace.
My current goal is to set up a monthly TBR (To Be Read) list and aim to finish at least four books each month, choosing from a range of genres to keep things fresh.
One month might feature a children’s or YA book, a thriller, a horror, and a classic. Another month could bring fantasy, contemporary fiction, non-fiction, or something totally unexpected. I want variety and escapism, to finally read those long-awaited titles and explore new corners of my bookshelf.
This isn’t about making reading a burden or another target to miss—it’s about bringing back space for stories.
This blog will help me stay on track, but I hope it will also let me share candid thoughts about the books I read. Some reviews might be in-depth, some brief, and some just an attempt to capture what made a particular story linger.
The main goal is simple: read more, enjoy more, and remember why books have always mattered to me.
